Baker Hydo main drain grate.

Hello. I'm working on a pool that was built in the mid 70's and it's concrete. The skimmer says Baker Hydro.

The grate over the main drain is missing. The drain is rectangular, roughly 30" x 4". The local pool store doesn't have any suggestions and said they can't get this part. I've been looking online but can only find Baker Hydro skimmer parts. Any suggestions to find this piece or a suitable substitute?

Thanks.

You won't be able to find the same cover. And you don't want to install the same one anyway. As the pool store probably explained to you all drain covers now sold in the US must be "unstopable" or VGA compliant. You can buy a retrofit drain cover for your pool. Make a drawing of your pool drain or just get the measurements and ask the pool store for a retrofit drain cover. If they can't help or have no idea what you are talking about go to a different pool store.

You want a VGA compliant drain cover so you reduce the entrapment risk to near zero.

A little more risky is to go to one of the online pool supply places like inyo or sunplay. Sunplay is nice because they will talk to you on the phone.
