A few issues hooking everything up

We filled the pool to the right level today and now there is a few leaks. One leak is where the backwash port is. The pool filter was on closed and water is dripping out of it. Also sand is coming out when we put it on backwash. The other leak is where the filter hose connects to the pump. We tried to tighten it but the water is dripping out. We haven't turn on the pump yet.

You might be missing some o-rings.

Check to see if there's a rubber o-ring in your pump basket where the lid goes on. There should also be one in that half-union that connects the pump to the top hose.

The backwash line is coming off what's called the multi-port valve. (You should have a hose connected to that backwash port to carry off the backwash water) The multi-port valve has what is called a spider gasket on the inside to prevent leaking. If yours is just dri[pping, I'd leave it alone. If it's leaking more than you can stand, you'll need to disassemble the multiport valve and replace the spider gasket.
