Pool salt vs other kinds of salt

Be sure that the pool salt is just that. Do NOT use the pellet-water purification salt!

Nobody else noticed that you claim to have a Polaris 360 with a booster pump? I suspect you have a 380. The 360 will generally self-destruct on a booster pump!

Water softener salt is perfectly fine for use with a swimming pool as long as you avoid the rust fighter versions. The only difference between water softener salt and pool salt is the size of the crystals. Even the pellets, the largest "grain" size version, dissolve quickly enough that they don't cause any problems.

I am surprised that you would suggest otherwise.

I would have to say vested interest here since he works for a major distributor that sells pool salt. Water softener salt could cut into sales.
