Usually it is a matter of gently pulling out the plugs, unscrewing the cell from the housing and dipping it in a diluted HCL bath (usually about a 10 parts water to 1 part HCL). Most of the calcium should just fizzle off in the solution after a few minutes. I use a popstick to gently scrape off stubborn parts but avoid using anything sharp. It is a good idea to check with your manual though -assuming you have one- as manufacturers can have some variations on the basic instructions.
Yes- I would really try and test daily for FC until you can work out how much your using and keep it relative to your CYA- of 60 ( which was your last reading).
