It looks to me like the first attempt was almost pre-fab looking. For future reference on contracts if you want the design to match a photo make sure the contract states (see attached photo) and both you and the builder have to sign it and get copies. A lot of my contract was vague but I made sure that it said "to plan" and we attached the plan and it was signed by both the builder and myself. When they couldn't match the contract noted on my plan they tried to get out of it and put plain concrete but when I pointed out that they had to do the concrete in the plan they weren't too happy. I got an upgraded finish because I wasn't willing to sign off of that and they didn't want to do that concrete.
