Acid wash complete.. Looks like a pair of 90's blue jeans. Lol

Starting the fill.

They added this Startup-Tec startup treatment.

Beautiful deck, do you mind me asking what company and what product you used for the deck? That's exactly what I was looking for, my concrete deck looks so beat up after 20 years lol.

We used To Third Coast Pool Plaster (South Houston Plaster | Third Coast Pool Plaster). We've been very satisfied with the work and the customer service.

The company that did the deck work is Pool Works (Home).

The product is their Nevada Sand with classic texture.

Well... It's full of water now. Such a pretty shade of green. Lol
This is right before I started adding the acid (7 gallons) & brushing. Turned the pump on too.

After brushing, ran water tests. Of course, no chlorine, the Ph was off scale low and TA was 0. CH was 140, so I added enough Hardness stuff to bring it up. It was 210 this morning.

While I was waiting for it to fill, I did a deep clean of the sand filter. I'm good about back washing, but didn't imagine all the nasty stuff coming out of there. Also found out that the filter is only about 1/2 full of sand. The sand is supposed to be 6" from the top. The current sand level is about 20" from the top. Added pool sand to my shopping list!

Thanks for the warning.. was planning on heading to the Home Depot to grab some of the Quikrete Pool Sand. Found an Ace Hardware with HTH pool sand, so I'll be going there instead..

Here's a new question.. with 1/2 the sand already gone, would it be better to remove the remaining old sand and refill with 100% new sand? While doing the deep clean last night, I felt several clay-like lumps in the sand and tried to break them up as much as possible. This house was a rental before we moved in, so there's no telling how many years of "debris" this filter has collected.

Update.... The water has been in the pool 1 week today.

Have had the pump going with the tab chlorinator running. The water is looking great.

Things are looking really great after spending last weekend putting in stone border and mulch in the plant area.

The numbers (from T-100 AND pool store testing) are:
- Ph came up to 7.8. Holding it below 7.5 with applications of acid.
- TA = 30
- CH = 270
- FC = 2 and rising
- CYA = 20 and slowly rising.

Questions---
- Should I be raising the TA?

- When can I safely use the Kreepy Krawly cleaner on this new surface? Builder told me it's okay after 1 week, but I'm apprehensive about dropping it in the pool and letting it go.

Here's some pictures!

Here's a couple with the light on. The one Glo-Brite does a great job of illuminating the entire pool. Red is the only color that doesn't light up very well. We're very happy with the light and the controller for it. One button to turn the light on, and a selector knob to pick the color/show.

Sorry I did not see your question about adding/replacing filter sand until just now.....what did you end up doing? How bad was the old sand as far as clumps and yucks?

That looks SO pretty! LOVE the lights!

Thanks!

Haven't done anything with the sand so far... other than trying to break up the "clumps & yucks" when I was cleaning it. :)

Now that the water conditions are stable and good , I'm going to remove the old sand and replace it with new.
