Polished concrete decking

Hello forum we live in Southwestern Ontario Canada and are in the middle of a complete Reno of our 20X40 I ground pool .
We are struggling with the finish on the decking and coping we are going for the modern smooth look but our pool builder is trying to get us to broom finish or a stamped look which we don't. He states it will be too slippery and the top will flake , need help can anyone comment.

Too slippery is a guarantee and a deal breaker. Flaking off indicates he probably has had some considerable experience and knows what he is talking about. I would pay close attention to his advice.

Smooth finishes can be slippery. I suspect your PB has experience with the effect of your winters on smooth finishes and that he fears it won't look very good after a few years.
