Getting ready for winter

After many years of using clorox, I installed a swcg in the middle of the season this year, WOW. Wish I had done it years ago. But now I'm in uncharted territory. The pump runs and the pool remains open throughout the winter. Do I shut the swcg off or continue to monitor and keep the salt level around 3400? And what else do I need to be aware of as winter approaches?
Thanks in advance

It depends on how cold the pool water drops to. As the water gets colder the pool will use less and less chlorine and the SWG output will need to be adjusted accordingly. All SWG's shut off when the water is too cold, usually around 50 degrees or so. At that point it is best to add bleach when needed.
