swirl it better when adding the drops and for at least 20 seconds between drops or use a magnetic stirrer

The extended swirling (ok) or magnetic stirrer (MUCH better) make a world of difference.

Ill tell you what, I am very confident of all my tests except this one. I cannot seem to get it right as to when the change is happening. It goes for a pale red to a purple color. Nothing like the change with TA. i swirled for 20seconds between drips and at 22 of them plus the initial 6 it took some time. 7 minutes of mixing and my wrist about gave out. lol Gonna go buy the portable magnetic stirrer, kids will think it is a cool gadget.

I love my Apollo magnetic stirrer. Yes the kids love it, and it works great when testing for both TA and CH.
