Does Algae Float?

I have what looks like small flakes floating on the entire surface of my water. They are essentially colorless and I don't see any evidence of algae on the bottom or wall surfaces. Just not sure what this is. I have 3 palms trees by the pool, but don't really see anything coming from the trees that looks like what's in the pool. Thanks for your help.

Can you please post a full set of test results?.

Dead algae with the filter off could float. It could be anything on the surface of your water, especially if the filter is not running. It will look grayish, but hard to tell and your test results may give a little more information. I had algae only once near the light ring and underneath the diving board. Then came along TFP and never a trace of algae again. Algae on the walls is very apparent. Pictures would be great.
