I've lowered my water to below the returns but now find the water level at the middle of my light housing. The led light is removed but lowering below light housing seems like I'm not leaving a lot of water in the shallow end. Any opinions?

I don't see any reason to lower the level beyond the light niche but I don't close my pool so others may have an explanation of the benefit.
