Blowing out the lines

I cannot remember how I blew out the lines the last two years! I have a sand filter with 2 pipes, one to the main drain and one to the water return. Every time I try to blow air in thru the filter basket nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

First, do you have your multivalve in filter mode? Second, you need to close one of the pipes and divert all your air through the other? Third, have you removed anything other than through where you are blowing in the air?

The filter plug is out but that shouldn't matter cause I'm blowing the other way.
