I need a new heater but can't justify the cost for a heat pump. Looking at gas heaters but was wondering if low nox is actually required in texas. I live in unincorporated Harris County.

I think all manufacturers are in the process of only offering Low Nox but it is only required in TX, FL , and CA as far as I know.
If you shop around a bit you should be able to get a reasonable deal on a heater...not a lot of heaters being installed going into the summer months or with the economy.
