I have a Hayward H400 electric ignition heater. The heater ignites, but after a few minutes, it begins to re-ignite every minute or two. I here the sound of the gas igniting. Sometimes, I can even see the flame at the top of the vent when it hits.

Sounds like it is time for a good going over by a heater tech. Probably needs cleaning/de-sooting, burners cleaned, flame sensor cleaned, etc.
