    Buying pool myself

Can an individual buy a fiberglass pool from a manufactuer and not go through a PB? I've seen the DIY liner pools on this forum, but not a fiberglass. Or maybe I've missed the thread on DIY fiberglass.
    Thanks
    Lynn

    Re: Buying pool myself

Waterbear knows a lot about fiberglass pools, including (at least some of) the folks that make them. I would await his answer on where and who to buy them from.

A DIY fiberglass pool would be easier than a liner pool 8) I've never installed a fiberglass pool, but I'll bet you I could without undue trouble Ill let the folks that are familiar with them answer and chime in with the things I know about and advice on methodology.

I hope you can get this going and have your pool soon, Lynn!

    Re: Buying pool myself

Thanks Ted. Where is that Waterbear when you need him? I've been looking around. Water World Pools is in Georgia. Did a search here and saw a couple of positive threads. Have seen some not so good things about them in the old Pool Forum also.
I really didn't care for all the seats in the WW pools. Just my preference. I don't think they make a simple rectangle 16x38-40.
Will keep looking and waiting for the Waterbear. I'm really close to Nashville, Waterbear, if that helps.

    Thanks
    Lynn

I know San Juan pools has DIY instructions for their pools.
    http://www.sanjuanpools.com/do_it_yourself.html
They make a very good pool, btw. I have one myself! They also have one of the largest catalogs of pool sizes, shapes and styles:
    http://www.sanjuanpools.com/pools.html
Leisure Pools also offers DIY instructions:

Be aware that there is some debate as to the longevity of colored gelcoats.
Other manufacturers might also have DIY instructions. All you need to do is check their websites and contact them. Here are some of the other larger manufacturers of fiberglass pools:

    http://www.bluehawaiianfiberglasspools.com/
    http://www.trilogypools.com/
    http://www.royalfiberglasspools.com/
    http://www.sunpools.com/

I have not heard good things about waterworld pools.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted with pictures once you start!
