I am a new pool owner and I am getting tired of every time I take off the solar cover, only to find dirt and leaves in my pool.. I am looking at putting in a after market auto cover. But i know there are allot of them on the market and was wonder which ones work the best.. I don't really want to break the bank but I am willing to spend some to keep it clean.
Does anyone have any suggestions on which ones work the best. I am looking for an on the deck mount type.. I know there are semi auto and fully auto ones..
thanks for the input
jim

The most common ones I see around here are done by Pool Cover Specialists and run around $5,000-7,500 for an automatic deck mounted system. Haven't had any mechanical issues with the ones installed on my customers' pools unless, of course, the water level is too low. They're a great help for cleaning, heating, and chemical maintenance.
The only complaint I've heard is from a customer with a shallow lap pool who had a black cover installed to match his house. The pool is in direct sun 80% of the day, so during the summer the water gets uncomfortably hot if he leaves it on.

Just to clarify, you said your "solar cover". Auto covers are solid, not the same as your bubble-style solar. If you mean solid, the prvious poster has good info. If you mean solar cover, there are hose-operated solar reels that in the under $300 range. Let me know what you are asking about.
