Basic questions about necessary above ground site prep. Easy stuff really.

Hello, first I'd like to say thanks for contributing to this awesome site. Second, I did search for answers, but nothing I read addressed these questions directly.

1. Is there a maximum amount of sand that should be under the pool?
2. Can the paving stones that go under the legs be resting on a layer of sand? I know to use masonry sand!?

I'm currently levelling the ground while adding a 6" dish towards the middle for next years pool. I'm planning on renting a gas tamper to tamp the dirt then make it perfect perfect with sand. Do you see a problem if one side or are of the pool has 3" of sand while others might only have 2"? Any suggestions are appreciated. -Scott

I wouldn't rest the paving stones on masonry sand unless it was compacted. An inch or so should do you for under the rest of the pool.
