Boric acid came today...

Just got 50 lbs of boric acid from dudadesiel, you think I should wait till next year pool opening to add it
there are no borates in my new pool now as its only about 1 month old now.

Do you get rain or snow melt filling the pool over winter?

Personally I'd wait if you plan to close soon, but it's no biggie either way.

I'm in North Carolina, so we have about 1 more month of swimming (I'm guessing) I assume water will get pretty cold soon. But reading thru forums about borates I've read that borates do not go away?
I plan on getting a pool cover before winter, not sure if I do need one, I have a lot of trees that will be dumping leaves and seeds in pool soon. It will be my first winter with this pool

That is correct. Borates only leave your pool with water exchanges (backwash, splash out, overflow, etc).
