Pump problem

I hope this is the right section for this, I am looking for some help.

I have a 2HP pump that very recently has started to turn itself off after running for some time. Turing the pump on/off or the breaker has no effect, the only thing I can do is let it sit and try it again in a little while and it will usually turn back on. Is the pump overheating? Is there something I can do to fix this?

Sounds like overheating. Any flow restrictions? Pool installers are notorious for oversizing pumps. Can it get plenty of air for cooling? Low voltage? The thermal pretection device could also be bad.
