Finally got the iron & algae filtered out :-D but can't seem to keep a chlorine reading. Had the same problem last year. PH & TA are good but can't keep chlorine. How much chlorox should I be using & how often. :?

What is your CYA level? How much sun does your pool get during the day? I use about a half jug of ultra bleach per day in 20K gallons of water.
cya is low i think around 20. We get full sun from 11 - 5. We're new to the bleach thing, so I guess we should be adding it every day then.

Yeah, probably just about everyday. Remember, chlorine is a consumable item....either "bugs" in your pool or the Sun is gonna eat it up so it must be continually replenished.
I would suggest raising CYA to around 40 and see if your chlorine consumption doesn't reduce significantly.
How does your water look?
Water looked great until we added more chlorine. Turned brown instantly. We're still battleing iron.
