Yet another extension cord issue..

Interesting to hear the various ways that people have their electrical gear set up.

Here in the UK i believe that the a GFCI is more commonly referred to as an RCD (residual current device). Its normal practice in the UK for all the circuits in a house to be protected by an RCD that is installed in the main switchboard of the house as can be seen here

Would this negate the need for a GFCI/RCD at the actual socket outlet?

In North America your not supposed to have a GFI outlet connected to a GFI breaker, but no idea about the UK.
