Hi guys, I have a rather benign question. Our pool installer placed a hose bib about 8 inches above the pump in the pool plumbing, between the pump and filter. I can't figure out what I would use that for or why it would be necessary. Drain water from the filter maybe? Thanks for any answers.

I think it is sometimes added when they pressure test the lines. It is a nice easy way to partially drain water if you need to ... or hook a hose to it and dominate the squirt gun fights in the pool :D

I'd bet it would as handy as a pocket on a shirt for priming the pump without removing the lid- hook it up with a washing machine hose ( female bibs on each end) to a regular garden hose and prime away. It would also be handy for getting your water test samples.
