Help. Replacing Hayward Muli port spider do i need to glue it?

Hi all,

Replacing my 5th leak this weekend. I am having an aweful time because the spider gasket was glued in the multiport valve. Do I need to glue and or lube the replacement gasket?

I have no idea why it was glued. Maybe it just seemed to be to you? I mean, it ain't like it's going anywhere! Clean that channel real well, lube that puppy up all over, and reinstall it.

Problem is it sits loose in the seating channel I can see it lifting with water flow

Never done one myself, but the youtube videos and older threads frequently mention a couple drops of superglue.
