I'm so new at this I've never done a Forum before.

We have an above ground 18' round pool. Had it for about 5 years. This is the first year that we've come across this problem. We use chlorine to and do not have a sand pump filter. Keep our filters changed regularly. Check our chemicals daily. For some reason, this year our pH is sky high and we've developed a gritty substance along the edge of the pool. It's almost like a salt grit put larger than salt in a shaker. Our water is clear, not cloudy. We can't seem to get the pH down. Any ideas?

BTW, we live in South Central Nebraska. The humidity has been horrible. We keep the pool covered when not in use or the bugs and weed seed would be horrible as we have pasture land behind us (practically in our backyard) and soybean field across the road from us.

Sorry to begin with a question. What is it you're doing to lower pH that isn't working? It does sound like you are creating scale at the waterline, which would not be surprising with high pH and concentrated minerals. Can you tell us what kit you have, and tell us about other test results you may have?
