question about pool pump pluming

I recently replaced an old pump with a variable pump. But I am now wondering if I should have increased the length of the output tubing. I basically kept the previous dimensions. The variable pump manual, called for 12" minimal from the inlet side, nothing else was mentioned as far as the output. Just wondering if it's too short and could cause the multi port gasket to fail. Input would be much appreciated.

10" of out pipe to the multi port after the 90" elbow

If you count the length of the vertical pipe, you have 12" beat by quite a bit. Did they specify 12" horizontal, or just 12" total ?

If it pumps OK, I wouldn't worry about it.

P.S.- I would have put a union in the vertical run to make removing the pump easier.
