Backwash Valve Broken - Need Help!

Hello,
I have a Hayward backwash valve that was stuck due to a broken O-ring. when Trying to pull up the handle to clean and replace the o-rings my handle snapped off and the rest of the valve is firmly stuck in the pipe.

the handle broke off right at the first top seal.

Any help on how I can remove rest so I can replace it? Thanks!

Oh ghesh Alex... What a bummer. I don't own a sand filter but I know someone here should know how to do this.
