Dear Forum-mates:

New pool owner here again.

I have a Hayward sand filter (side mount - S244s) My sight glass leaks when I am doing backwash/rinse.

From another thread I realize that there is a difference between leaking during regular filter operations vs. backwash operation.

So if it leaks during backwash/rinsing, can I do anything to fix it?

- I tried looking at the parts diagram couldn't tell if there is an O-rignt.
- I tried using some Teflon tape. It didn't help much.
- The spider casket was replaced by a pool company last season (although now I question how good they are).
- I also read about a "spring" that I should replace but don't know which one.

Any specific instructions/advice on this problem will be greatly appreciated. Here is the link to the manual

Thank you!:confused::confused:

Mine didnt have an o ring but a rubber washer like you have in a garden hose. If you buy a replacement glass it ususlly comes with the rubber washer. Local pool store should carry it.
