Stenner Pump Tube Life

Out by my pool equipment last night and noticed the ground was wet. The Stenner pump was running and bleach was leaking out of it. I had a spare tube and had it replaced in under 10 minutes.

I just installed this pump last fall, so the tube failed well short of one year. Is this typical? At one point the pump likely ran for a few days with an empty bleach container. Could this have shortened the life of the tube?

How long do your tubes last?

I generally replace the pump tube once a year, but have had them last two years. Running it dry really doesn't hurt them, but I don't like doing it just because I was taught that you should never run anything dry.

If it's less than a year old I'd call Stenner and see what they have to say.
