Spider gasket? Backwash discharge when filtering!

After a week of mystery puddles around the pool we've now found out that when on filter our filter is also pumping water out the backwash discharge! We were pool free for about two years so the filter and pump were drained, covered and sat... I know there is a loose lateral because we'll get some sand in the pool from the filter, but I was wanting to wait until the end of the season to tear everything about. Apparently that changed! LOL

This is an intex sand filter, am I correct in suspecting the spider gasket?

Yes, the spider gasket is most always at fault for that issue.

Reminders for everyone with a multiport...

1. Don't change position of the handle with the pump running

2. Always rotate the handle in the same direction.....even if it means taking the long way around.
