It should be GFI protected, either at the panel or at the outlet itself. Outside outlets usually are.

Especially near a pool. Won't hurt to double check with the Electrician on this Amanda, but he may say "Duuhhh, you think I didn't know that?" It's almost a given they will install a GFCI plug anywhere near the pool.
 
Here is a tip for when using a robot.

If you have a thermometer in the water hanging on a string, take it out when running the robot. That sucker will climb up the wall and suck the string into the scurbbers and tracks and really screw things up. Its fixable, but a real pain to get the string out.
