DIY Liquid Covers?

just curious, and maybe a stupid question but...what else (if anything) is in liquid solar covers besides isopropyl alcohol? I've used those on occasion with some success, but I don't like paying $10 a bottle for them. From the looks and smell of it, it's just alcohol and food coloring!
Is it a big bad no-no to simply use household rubbing alcohol, which is $3 a bottle, as an alternative to the $10/bottle stuff?

Thanks!

Ya know, I'm curious about this as well... It's gotta have something else, because conventional wisdom says that Iso. Alcohol increases evaporative properties-- not decreases...
I always assumed it was some sort of oil-like substance... but I can't figure it out.

So... I guess, it's time to "phone-a-friend":

<Brr-ring, Brr-ring....Brr-ring, Brr-ri....>

Hey Geek :geek:*, any thoughts...?
What's up with all these "chemical/liquid covers"?
Small words, please-- okay? Well, medium ones are alright, too. ;)

*I love that guy... (The little smiley, as well as Richard :mrgreen: )
