I have a DB 21x41 pool with 6' deepend that I have had for 11 years and enjoyed. I am considering converting to salt next year and just doing my initial research etc..

I asked a couple of questions at my local pool store and was told salt water in a above ground pool was a bad idea... would accelerate rust etc on metal caps etc...

true... ?? or his he afraid he will lose chlorine sales.... although I don't buy from them anyway......

I'm biased of course, but I have to lean toward it accelerating corrosion on steel walls, rails & caps on a pool whether it be above or inground. With a pool the age of yours, I think I'd look at chlorine injection of some sort rather than salt.
