Installing Push/Pull valve for DE filter - PVC/ABS question

When installing a ABS Pentair push/pull valve to a PVC fitting, what glue should I be using?

My plan was to use the Oatey red all-purpose glue on both fittings, and primer the PVC side only. Would this work fine?

I've always used regular pvc cement for abs backwash valves, over 100 in 30 years. Always worked well Make sure you prime all the fittings well.
