Do I need a cove?

I have 12' 48" best way steel wall pool. 2 questions , do I need a cove?
also one of my support legs won't connect to the base plate...can't line up the holes. Any idea what is causing that?

The cove helps lock the pool wall into the bottom track and also prevents any contact between the support blocks under the uprights and the liner. As for the leg/base plate issue, a picture might help us see what you are up against.

You need a cove.

without a cove, the weight of the water on the liner can cause the liner to push out under the bottom track, and then you will be in a world of trouble.
