I have a fountain that attaches in the place of the pool jet. I have removed the pool jet but the fountain does not attach. Someome told me I had to remove the insert that is in the wall to put the fountain in the place. The pool was part of the purchase of the house and I'm new to owning a pool. The insert has a small notch in it and I was told to put a screwdriver and turn it. I am not sure if there is a specific tool or an adapter. Does anyone have any advice or help? I can get pictures and diameters if needed. Thanks in advance for your time.

Welcome to the forum. 
You will find two slots in there 180 degrees from each other. There is a plastic key that fits into those slots and allows you to turn that adapter out. Many pool stores carry that adapter but call before you go....not all of them do.
