How to find leak myself, without the leak specialists

I have another leak. I can call the leak guys and they will find it for $300. I would like to try to do it myself first. If the leak is in a pipe I will need them, but I have old tile and an old skimmer and I would like to use the dye test there and see if I can find any leaks. Is there a good youtube video, or any online instruction, or can someone here tell me basically how to do the dye test, or any other test I can do myself?

There are quite a few videos on youtube. Just search. Food coloring works just fine but not as well as the purpose-made dyes. You'll need a syringe to put the dye/coloring in. If you're testing in the skimmer or return areas, make sure the pump is off when testing so you can see the dye getting sucked into the leak.
