Changing Filter Drain Plug

I have a Jacuzzi CFR 75 cartridge filter. Its set up now with the drain plug in the rear and the out to the pool barb is on the side, both are 1 1/2" holes. Is there any reason why I could not change these around? Would it affect the flow rate back to the pool or hamper filtration somehow?

Yes. The drain is just an opening in the bottom of the tank on the "dirty side" of the filter. The outlet of the filter is fed from the interior of the filter. If you switched them you'd essentially be bypassing the filter.

The barb hole and the drain hole are at the same level, other than their positions they both look the same to me. But just to be safe I'll keep as is. Was just trying to make the plumbing a little easier to hook up.
