does'nt necessarily bother me functionally, but worried that the banginig of the bottom of the stairs on the liner will eventually damage it. thoughts?

I have a pad under mine and I put a 10# weight on the platform that is behind the steps. My other set of steps, per instructions, are filled with water. Some people fill pvc with cement, cap the tube, and hang it on the steps. Search the forum for some ideas on how to weigh down pool steps or floating steps. Lots of information is available.
Although we have different steps, it's the same principle - we filled empty bleach bottles with sand and tied them to the steps. Works perfectly. We also have a pad under our steps.
On the pads, is there a specific type of pad I should get? if it is something that does not sink and stay on the bottom, then it wont work since these steps doont actualy touch the bottom unless someone is tepping on them ( or hopefully when I add the weights as recommended above)

I have the same steps and my hubby adjusted the pipe handles until the steps touched the bottom. My deck is higher than the pool.

I have the same ladder. You can add standard sidewalk pavers in the pockets in the back. I have four in mine. No floating here.
Hadn't thought of the pavers. What do you use to prevent them from sliding out?

Perhaps, the "pockets" in back are made for this purpose. I have a brick in my pool and once it is in, it stays in place. Pavers probably just stay put.
The pockets in the back are perfectly sized for pavers and in the instruction sheet it mentions pavers can be used to prevent floating.
I can't find the instruction manual and I don't see where the make our model is. Do ant of you know what it is?. Here's a pic of the back of the steps
