Newbie.... hayward s180t sand filter leaking like a geiser where valve meets barrel

guessing its the o-ring? flange? both?

if and when I get this figured out, whats the best sourse on how to get the filter system properly started again? (ie properly primed so I dont screw it up another way)

Open the clamp (when you shut the water from both ends), pull the valve, inspect the ring. Wipe it, wipe the possible sand off the neck's inside. If the ring us bad, replace, if not - lube with Jax.
Inspect valve part that goes in the neck and the neck itself for cracks or other damage.

Also make sure it is not your fittings that leak and make it look like the neck is leaking.

Morzh, did exactly what you said. Cleaned everything, put some silicone and locked it up. So far so good! (knock on wood). thanks!
