The night before I changed my spider valve my pool lost about six inches of water out the waste line in twelve hours. Now it still trickles a bit to the tune of about a quart in twelve hours. Do you think the spring is week? Any Ideas would be helpful.

I agree with Dave, I have some drips at my equipment pad ... while it annoys me, the water loss is so much less than evaporation I have not been able to justify the hassle to fix them.
You could also add a shut-off valve on the backwash line to stop the water loss. But, if the water is able to leak to backwash, then some water may be able to bypass the filter and head back to the pool as well.

Thanks, I like your thinking. In fact, while staring at my MPV I noticed drips from my filter drain plug. This leak comes and goes and my thoughts are just let it leak.
