Hayward Sand Filter - gurgle/bubbling noise

Hi all

Is it normal to hear a bubbling-like noise jn the sand filter? It mostly happens when I turn on the pump in the morning....

Does the pump have to prime itself every day it starts up? If so, you have a leak somewhere on the suction side and its causing the pump to lose prime and then when you turn it on it's pumping air into the filter till it's all primed and running.

Does it sound like popcorn popping in the valve on the filter. If so the last posting is right. If the sound continues all the time the flow rate through the valve is faster that the valve is rated.

I will re examine once we resolve the suction side leak. It sounds more like a gurgling rather than popping
