I am experimenting with a new RSS feed system. There is a small RSS feed button near the bottom of each page. You can subscribe to the entire site or to a specific forum.

We used to have RSS feeds a while back, but the old system seems to have disappeared. Hopefully the new system will prove reliable enough to keep around for a while.

In "computer dummy terms": RSS - yet another stupid web standard that you are better off ignoring :)

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, a way of sending out news articles and announcements that is supported by a fair number of places. Safari has support built-in, but otherwise you need a special program that reads RSS "feeds". RSS is very much like using the "View new posts" feature. It gives you a list of the subjects of all the topics with recent posts, and you can then click on the subject line and see the full topic. The "View new posts" feature is probably a much better thing for most people.

RSS does have some cool tricks it can do. The big advantage is that you can get lots of RSS feeds all combined together and automatically scanned for whatever keywords you are interested in. That gives you a single combined list of items you might be interested in from across the web that can all be read in one place. Getting that working can be extremely cool, but it isn't something for the average "computer dummy" (no offense intended).
