Hard plumbed Intex pool-small leak at eyeball

I hard plumbed my outlet from my SWG to the pool return so I could add a DIY solar heater. It went much better than I had anticipated, but I have a small leak where the box nut adapter connects to the eyeball return. I noticed the gasket at that joint is different from the others and has a ridge in it that corresponds with the plunger valve. Any ideas to stop the leak?
