What plaster looks like 2 years later

My results from last weekend were: PH 7.8 TA 70 FC 4 CC 0 CYA 50 CH 500 Salt 3600 Temp 77 I measured the fill water for CH a few times before we did the Reverse Osmosis on it last year and CH was 100. It is really windy today so I will try to snap some photos of the yellowing in the plaster...

What plaster looks like 2 years later

Thanks for the replys. I guess maybe "staining" isn't the right word. Our plaster never looked pristine white from the beginning (it was creamy with creamy swirls) so maybe my expectations are too high. There have never been any metals detected in the water when we have tested for it. We are on...

What plaster looks like 2 years later

We had our pool replastered in January of 2015. We have kept up the pool chemicals and have been good about brushing. Never had an algae outbreak. We do have very hard water with the calcium hardness rising fast with no real reason (we have been around about that on the forum with no answers as...

How often do you brush your pool?

How often do you brush your pool and run your vacuum? I brush 2-3 times a week and run the vacuum for a few hours almost daily. Not sure if I should be brushing more though.

    Dogs and pool safety

Does anyone use the "scamper ramp" for their dog or some other type of pool escape device? I have had my new dog in the pool a few times and let her swim about 3 feet to the steps but I would feel better about having another exit for her in the deep end of the pool. I don't think she would jump...

    Filter Gauge problems

Thank you everyone! We went back to the pump basket and removed the filter, then felt around inside the pipe leading to the filter. It was filled with a birdsnest of foxtails. We cleared it out by hand and viola!! We have water pressure showing on our gauge again. THANK YOU!!!

    Filter Gauge problems

After doing some internet searching it seems it could be a clogged basket, blocked drain covers, low water level in pool, air leaks in O-rings and pump lids, clogged pump impeller, or bad pump motor. We've eliminated all of the above expect a clogged pump impeller or bad pump motor. My vacuum...

    Filter Gauge problems

No obstructions on the filter gauge. Any other ideas? There is water in the filter dome and the pool water is filtering fine. It just appears that the gauge is not working. Could it be something needing replacing on the filter dome?

    Filter Gauge problems

Trying to troubleshoot what is going on with our filter gauge. We replaced it about six months ago because it wasn't registering. It worked normally until about 6 weeks ago it kept registering lower and lower until it stopped on zero and would never move. We cleaned the cartridge filters and...

    pool light question

I have a question on replacing our pool light. We have taken the light out of the niche and it has been up on the side of the pool for a week, will probably be a few more weeks until we replace it with all new housing (waiting for the pool temp to heat up a bit). My question is there water...

Replace our pool light housing ourselves??

We have bad pool light housing that needs to be replaced. My friend who replaced his light has offered to help my husband with it. What do you think? Does this project usually run into snags or is it smooth sailing? If it's snag infested I'll call an electrician to do it. Also, where is the best...

    Replacing pool light???

Two questions. When you say try a "cheap bulb" first does that mean that a regular old incandescent bulb would have the same base to try it out with? Also, if we have to replace the entire housing does the water need to be drained out of the pool to below the light niche or can it be installed...

    Replacing pool light???

Ok, just realized it's not rust I'm seeing inside the light housing but water. It's about half filled with water. Not sure how old light bulb or housing is but the previous owners were not into home maintenance of any kind so I'm assuming I may need to replace the entire unit now and not just a...

    Replacing pool light???

We had our pool replastered about 2 months ago. Over the last few weeks I've noticed something on the interior of the pool light which looked like rust (really don't think it was there after the replastering). Anyway, now our pool light is not working. I'm pretty sure it's the bulb since I don't...
