    Possible Dead Intellichlor IC40

Thanks for the replies. I may just go ahead and replace since it's so old. I feel "naked" with chlorine levels so low and I'm worried that it may get out of hand if I don't start generating chlorine now. I still can't get bleach here in any significant quantities. I ran the SWG at 100% 24/7...

    Possible Dead Intellichlor IC40

OK, so if i'm reading this right it looks like it was made in 2012, so not original. What is the expected life span on these things?

    Possible Dead Intellichlor IC40

Well, I'm not really sure. We bought this house 6 years ago and I definitely haven't replaced it. The previous owners left some paperwork and it looks like the pool was built in 2004. Everything I've found makes it look like they went SWG from the outset rather than a retrofit later. So it's...

    Possible Dead Intellichlor IC40

My water is still clear (at the moment)....but over the past week or so I've noticed my chlorine levels drop from 8ppm to around 1ppm last night. I don't see any error lights on the IC40....everything is green and looks normal. I put it in boost mode and let it run overnight and my chlorine...

Is a SWG right for me?

A caveat, I've only ever owned one house with a pool...so I don't have any personal experience to the contrary....but the house we're currently in came with a SWG gunite pool. The extent of my chemical fiddling over the past 6 years has been: 1. adding a few bags of salt each year 2. adding...

    Freeze protection

Wow...thanks for all the quick replies. I thought this forum might go kinda quiet since our swimming days are done for the year. I'm in Tennessee...we don't get many days below freezing. It dips below freezing at night during the coldest part of the winter...but it very rarely gets below...

    Freeze protection

I'm sorry for all the bonehead questions...bought a house with a pool this summer so this will be my first winter having to deal with one. I have a salt-water pool that i'm choosing to leave open. I live in a southern state and the advice from friends and co-workers is to leave...

New pool owner SWG...low salt indicator

Thanks dudes. I'll pick up a salt test kit in the next day or so. I live in Memphis so our winters are fairly mild. I was thinking of leaving the pool open all winter because I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a cover (moving is expensive)....so we'll see how it goes.

New pool owner SWG...low salt indicator

OK...just bought a house in July and it came with an in-ground, 22,000 gallon salt water pool with an Intellichlor SWG. The pool was basically trouble-free all summer. Had to add Muriatic acid a couple of times to lower the pH...but other than that it's been pretty easy. Last night the red...
