    Switching to salt

You will need to increase run time. How long depends on how big of a SWG you get and what your typical daily losses are.

    Switching to salt

Should not be any issue. Just be sure to test the salt level before add more, you will not be starting at 0.

Bad main circuit board? Dealing with Hayward??

Funny that everyone wants something different than they have expecting better. There is another current thread of someone looking to switch from Circupool. They are can have problems, but the hayward's are well known due to marketshare.

Has anyone switched from SWG back to manual?

Similar situation where control panel is broken. I hate having to buy and add the 12.5% bleach everyday. Can't wait to get the box fixed.

    Should I add a SWG??

Not sure about this. That would prevent the SWG from running when pump is on high speed. Wonder if there is a way to make the "booster" relay slaved to be on if either the high or low speed relay is on.

    Should I add a SWG??

This is NOT what TFP recommends. If you wait for a 10psi rise that is WAY!!! too long. TFP recommends cleaning the filter when the pressure rises 20-25% over the clean pressure, and this should really be checked at a higher pump speed.

    SWG PREP

Anything negative will lower the likelihood of a "local" high CSI in the cell. It does not need to be closer to 0. That would be a "higher" CSI and more likely to cause problems. There is also not really any "too negative" for the a vinyl pool as on the negative side there is only a concern...

    SWG PREP

You misunderstood. You want the CSI to be on the negative side to keep the cell clean. It is currently negative so no need to worry about it. Also, no need to add calcium to the vinyl pool.

    Should I add a SWG??

@mas985 has some spreadsheets that can estimate it in his signature (or maybe he can run the numbers for you).

    Should I add a SWG??

A 2-speed pump will only run at ~1750 or ~3500 rpm. The GPM at each of those speeds is much more difficult to determine and the guy can't make a blanket statement that 1750 = 20 gpm.

    Naturesoft / Hayward T-15 cell

Agree with the above, TF-100 from tftestkits.net and the Taylor salt kit ... then no need to go to the pool store. Note that if you had algae, a little cal-hypo is not going to eradicate it. We recommend following the

    Naturesoft / Hayward T-15 cell

 Welcome to TFP!!! If the cell is clean, then the low salt reading compared to independent testing is a sign of a failing cell. Note we do not trust pool store testing, not that you reported any results, but why add 5 pounds of CYA? Why 2 bags of shock and what was the actual ingredient...

    SWG Cleaning

The check cell light comes on at a regular interval based on generation time (roughly 3 months). It does not mean you have to clean it, it is just a reminder to inspect it and clean if needed. You can just reset the check cell light when it comes on if you are pretty sure there is no issue with...

    SWG Cleaning

Did you actually see scaling in the cell that you could not knock out with a Popsicle stick? Every time you acid wash a SWG cell, you shorten its life. Best to keep the pool balanced to avoid any scale build-up in the first place. And your pool is not "chemical free" ;) If you are not testing...

Aqualogic will not turn on filter.

@JamesW? Note, lack of filtration does not cause a green pool. Lack of chlorine does. You could have still added chlorine (bleach) to the pool and mixed it in with a brush and prevented an algae outbreak. I have done it when my pump went out in the AZ summer.

    SWG salt measurement

No way to calibrate it. The SWG and tests are generally about +/- 400ppm accuracy. Just make sure the SWG is happy and not reporting something way below the independent test result which could indicate a problem.

    SWG PREP

The UV will help break down the CC that the sun will not be able to do. It may also break down some of the FC, but the SWG will have not problem keeping up. There is no need to worry about a very negative CSI value for a vinyl pool. I would not increase the CH. The reason that the pH tends to...

CYA has nothing to do with how corrosive the water is.

Very hard water and plate scale

Replacing water and then using softened water to top it off will certainly lower the rate at which the CH will rise. Of course with your high TA and if you allow the pH to get too high you will still encounter scaling in the cell. One way to easily confirm you will not have problems is to...

Very hard water and plate scale

You need to keep the CSI between -0.3 and 0 to lower / prevent scaling in the cell. Likely by keeping your pH lower and maybe driving down the TA. Use softened water to top off the pool if you can to slow the CH rise.

    Should I add a SWG??

First thing I would do would be by the Taylor salt and test and test what your salt level actually is in your pool already from the continued use of bleach. You may find that the salt level is over half what would be required for an swg. Or at least get a pool store to test your salt level. I...

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

Sorry for the delayed response. No issue using bleach after the cal-hypo. Unless the SWG is set to 100%, the are periods of time when there is no FC produced and therefore no bubbles. Have you run the to determine if the FC loss is really something in the water ?

    SWG bubbles?

My swg controller just went belly up in the on configuration when with pump off. Noticed huge bubbles glugging out of the returns, later thought that could have an interesting "pop"

    SWG bubbles?

That is what mine look like. Likely the hydrogen bubbles. Apparently you can put a lighter above them and they will pop to confirm.

As long as it does not include the mineral cartridge, it is a decent SWG from what I have heard.
