Sounds like an excuse to just throw your suit on and jump in, as long as there's no lightning. Haven't we all used pool maintenance as an excuse to go swim?
It doesn't cope, you do. It will make (roughly) the same amount of chlorine per hour so you continue to test and adjust runtime / output accordingly. It's merely a different method of chlorination, not a replacement.
Do what divers do. Spit in the mask, smear it around, no more fog.
Or if that's gross to you, you can buy a bottle of some kind of anti-fog juice that does the same thing.
In my last house I lost all my patio furniture cushions over time due to the same effect. A wall of Low E3 glass and a west facing patio meant smoking cusions :)
