    What's your current pool temp?

We're having a bit of a heat wave down here. My water got up to 94* yesterday afternoon, even with the waterfalls and deck jets running. I wonder how many 1 gallon ice cubes it would take to cool 30K gallons of water by 2 degrees?...

First thing in the morning I'm 88-89, and then 92-93 by late afternoon. Need to get that solar array installed soon just so I can cool the water now at night. Jim

For those of us that still have a landline

I picked one of these up a few weeks ago at a Leslie's pool store. It is as advertised so far. Great phone, I'm going to pick up a second one. It has good range and sound. It floats (and the first thing I did was throw it in the pool). And it has some rubber armor on it to take a few...

Added some accent lighting for my Palms

Hey Shell, Lookin' good. I was actually in Lowes yesterday too looking at solar lights and wondering if they would light up the three Queen palms I just planted. Strange... I still need to get over and check out your new place! Jim

Killing weeds between pool deck pavers

I poured used peanut oil (cold) leftover from deep-frying a turkey out in the lawn one time. It killed the grass there for a year... It makes concrete really slick though... I'll raise my hand for Roundup too...great stuff...

Need a good clear concrete sealant with antislip??

I used Increte brand acrylic sealer and Rhino Grip texture. It all seems to have worked well. I waited about 6 weeks between stamping and sealing. So far so good, but that was only last week...

Most economical way to make concrete look good again?

I think stained concrete looks good myself. If the cracks aren't huge and becoming toe-kickers, they add character to an interesting stain job. There's not really any perfect way to patch concrete cracks that isn't obvious. The patch sometimes makes them even more visible. Although it might...

    Photo update!!

I like the firepit too. It looks like a real wood burning pit? Do you have any problems with ash/debris getting in the pool? I'm thinking about putting one in at my place too and it'll be about 9' from my pool. Just wondered about ash...

    Bamboo

sammm, I do keep hearing that and it's the only thing holding me back from actually doing it. I don't really have to decide until June or July when everything should be ready for landscaping. I need some type of tall plant that can fit in a 3' wide by 24' long bed. Preferably tropical-ish...

    Bamboo

I'm going to start another offshoot from JohnT's earlier post on poolside plants. I'm interested in planting some bamboo around one side of my pool. I know alot of folks complain about how rampantly it spreads, but this will be in a contained area that can't really get away very easily...

    Mud Bugs!

My property is surrounded by rice fields and crawfish ponds. They are everywhere around here. We were actually digging them out when we excavated for my pool. I have a 200' x 80' pond in my back yard full of bass and bream and I don't feed them at all, they are completely fed from the...
