    Chlorine Tab dispensing

Thnaks, I am very aware of the increase in CYA, as I monitor it , and since I only use pucks when on vacation, I only need to partially drain/refill pool every few years

    Chlorine Tab dispensing

LC would be great, but more expensive. If I only use the chlorinators with tablets when on vacation like I do now and monitor CYA, any disadvantages to the auto feeder that use tablets?

    Chlorine Tab dispensing

oh I see, the tabs are no "sitting in a tub of water" to then dispense when pool pump engages, but water only runs over them when pump is on

    Chlorine Tab dispensing

Hmm, trying to visualize. I cannot find a good picture of a Stenner Pump , but other feeders look like they are large tanks to hold tablets than have and in/out tube for the water, with dial control for concentration. Sam idea? soem or only about $100, but is Stenner better?

    Chlorine Tab dispensing

OK thanks, but question on chlorine feeders like Stenner Pump. I have been told to not put pucks in skimmer due to build up when pump is off then sudden release. Wouldn't these pumps have the same issue (of course I know very little about these pumps)

    Chlorine Tab dispensing

I have been searching, and I thought it a great business opportunity, for someone to offer service only when on vacation. I would pay many times the usual 1 month rate myself for this service, but haven't found anyone yet :)

    Chlorine Tab dispensing

I always use liquid chlorine (per TFP) except when on vacation. Then I use the floating dispenser with 3" tablets (and closely monitor my CYA). However, the dispensers seem too slow. I even use two floaters for a 26K gallon pool and they hardly keep up with demand. Any suggestion for faster...

does chlorine burn off faster when it's at high level?

OK, so it should level out to a more slow FC burn off as it gets closer to my target of 7? Just to understand

does chlorine burn off faster when it's at high level?

I just finished my slam after 3 days I had 0 oncl and 0 CC this morning. FC was at 17, but later in the day it went down to 9. I also had a little bit of CC maybe 0.5. since my slam is done going from 17 to 9 seems like a lot of loss of fc and I was wondering does fc drop faster when it's at...

    small algae

I am still learning. I have just a couple of small algae patches this winter, but now I learned that I was not skimming properly and had my FC too low. I have now increased my FC to 4-6, with CYA of 30 (increasing that slowly to 40 as per suggestions here with pucks). My CC =0. So far so...

    Algae in winter

thanks, but I don't think that is the issue because my chlorine level does not go down much even after a couple days. it could be debris but it seems to accumulate right where the algea normally does so I guess if it comes back I will try to slam it

    Algae in winter

I just discovered I was not skimming , had it set up wrong (probably for months), now fixed, could that be the issue?

    Algae in winter

FC=5.5, TC=5.5, PH= 7.5, alkalinity=90, Calcium hardness = 250, CYA=30 are you saying amount of filtration is not a factor? First time I heard that?

    Algae in winter

I am getting a bit of algae even in the winter. All my chemicals are balanced, but I have a Pentair - IntelliFlo in northern California, and am running at 1500 RMP for 10hrs per day. Do you think that is too low of RPM and/or too short of time?

    CYA Level - Drain?

I do have a good test kit so yes I do need to measure more exactly but I usually can get pretty accurate with the test strips if I dilute it with 50% non pool water to get more accuracy and with the 50% diluted it comes in around 40 or 50 PPM

    CYA Level - Drain?

I only use liquid chlorine to treat my plaster in-ground pool, EXCEPT when on vacations or away for a few day, then tablets. I have not drained my pool for 5 or 6 years, and the CYA has creeped up to around 100 (not sure need to test more accurately only on test strip), but I know it is high as...
