    Test strips

Thanks. I will try that then. I'll talk to her, and she'll say she'll do better and she'll test, but then she won't actually do it. 😂 She's very busy and she just drops the ball on stuff like that. Maybe she'll get a Stenner pump for Mother's Day.

    Test strips

I just saw the last comment. What if I use the little 1" tablets? I think the large pucks I have left over are dichlor. The pool is used seasonally, but stays full year round, due to the difficulty in refilling. It gets a little Intex cover over it, and uses an Intex 1500gph filter pump.

    Test strips

I was hoping there was a "better test strip". We'll just keep doing roughly what we have been then. What I'll probably do this year is get everything set, set the CYA on the low end, and get her a floater and tablets to use. I don't get over there often enough to have a feel for daily chlorine...

    Test strips

Last year I built my mom a stock tank pool with an 8' round stock tank from tractor supply, and boy does she love it. I convinced her to buy the tf100 test kit AND the magnetic stirrer like I use, but she absolutely won't use it. She just gets lazy about it and never actually does it. She...

Tired of Manually Adding Liquid Chlorine

I don't think I see a problem transporting 15 gallons or so. I used to haul e85 55 gallons at a time. I have a 55 gallon drum set up to pump from. I'm not sure how they would be set up to load me up, but when I got home I would pump it from the bed of the truck into the storage containers. I'd...

Tired of Manually Adding Liquid Chlorine

I have a LC pump. My pump and filter are in a small pool house beside the pool, and I mounted the LC pump on the wall in there. It feeds chlorine from a bucket, and I tapped an injection site into the pressure side plumbing after my filter. It has been working great and is a welcome addition! I...

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

I see the correction now. Looks like 8.0 ppm with 12,500 gal.

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

According to PoolMath 1 gallon of 10 percent gets you 40 ppm with a 2500 gallon pool. Lol I suspect there was a typo there?

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

No, not that part. I use PoolMath every day. I mean how to determine that a pool my size "uses approximately 3.3 ppm per day in full sun".

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

How did you determine that? Is there a general rule of thumb about FC use/10k gallons? Or was that an educated guess based on observation of a similar sized pool?

    Just opened, CYA high...

I'm having a hard time myself with that test. I get frustrated enough that I want to call it useless sometimes. There is a shadow that gets cast into the vial that looks a lot like the dot to me. Until I get to the top and I realize what I'm looking at hasn't changed in several lines.

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

I found this at my local mom'n pop's hardware store! 12.5@$3.79 Even if I can find it a little cheaper, as long as they have this in stock that's where I'll go. It's about 2 minutes from the house to boot.

HD is a bit out of my way, but next time I'm near there I'll see if I can score the same deal! As is I'm happy with this.

BAZINGA! I got 12 bottles. They have 4 shelves full of it.

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

Thank you. Y'all rock. I don't understand how ANYBODY runs a pool successfully long term without a resource like this. Since coming here I've gotten into a few discussions with other pool owners about chlorine tablets, cya, chlorine levels, pool store testing, algaecide, etc and it seems like...

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

After getting my test kit, my cya is around 70. With that, does it still only consume the same amount of chlorine? Just takes more initially to get it to an elevated level? I.e. it looks like I need to shoot for around 9 ppm, but once I achieve that am I still only using about 3.3 ppm daily...

    CYA levels

My cya is a bit high also, at about 70-80. I've been hoping that I could possibly work it down slowly as well. I'm glad to have run across this thread!

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

I thought I'd found the holy Grail for a few minutes, given the current bleach/pandemic situation. SE Essentials "concentrated" bleach at BILO for $2.99! I noticed it doesn't have a concentration percentage listed on the bottle though. A little digging online tells me it's 1.5. Yes, ONE POINT...

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

Perhaps I didn't pay enough attention and the ads I was looking at in Amazon were for a pack of 4 or something. I'll have another look. Glad I asked! If 10 percent is available at Home Depot or Walmart for 3 or 4 bucks a gallon, that doesn't sound too bad. I have no idea yet how many gallons...

    Bleach or Liquid Chlorine Pricing

I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but I haven't bought very much bleach, ever. When I have I didn't pay the price much attention. Doesn't matter much at the rate of maybe 5 or 10 bottles over 30 years right? Lol Anyway, my question is, what's a fair price to expect to pay for bleach per...
